Thank you all for your wonderful supportive comments on my previous post. I guess writing it all down in the wee hours of the morning yesterday, instead of trying to deal with it all internally, was all I needed as I felt my mood begin to lift during the day. But not before I sliced the tip of my finger with a razor blade in the shop. I am amazed to find out how often I use the middle finger of my left hand. No, no, not that way...well maybe a little.
We got as much work done as we could and then closed up the city house, turned off the gas and water and headed home before the frigid front moves in today and ices over the bridges. The shop is heated but not the sandblast booth. This morning the wind is blowing steady at about 30 mph from the northwest and temperatures are dropping fast.
I was at a loss as to what to do about all my tropical and semi-tropical plants in the yard. I don’t worry about them in a light freeze, they either make it or come back from the roots. But this hard freeze, I don’t know. I have four kinds of ginger, a beautiful star of india, plumerias, angel trumpet, hummingbird bush. I took cuttings from several things to set to rooting and dug up a couple of ginger roots. I don’t go to extreme measures. I subscribe to the ‘sink or swim’ method of gardening. Hopefully everything will come back from the roots. Except maybe the plumerias.
So, last night, we’ve arrived, unloaded the truck and I’m setting up the computer and Marc has failed to bring the router to hook me up to the internet. For some reason, out here, the ethernet cord doesn’t work. I was resigned to using dial-up all weekend. After about a half hour, he jumped up and went down to the Walmart (a store I refuse to shop at) and came back with a new router and got me hooked up. Every time I get fed up and start wondering why I stick around, he does something like that to remind me.
Oh, and I got a glorious night’s sleep last night.
